UV DTF (direct-to-film) is a way to put a full-colour logo or design onto hard things that are awkward to print on directly: bottles, mugs, boxes, pens, power banks, helmets, glass and wood.
How it works
We print the design with UV-curing ink onto a special film, with a layer of glue and a varnish on top. UV light dries the ink instantly. Then the transfer is pressed onto the item and the film is peeled off, leaving the design on the surface with a slightly raised, glossy finish.
Where it works best
- Drinkware and bottles: full-colour logos on metal, plastic and glass.
- Packaging and boxes: labels and branding on gift boxes and product packaging.
- Gifts and promo items: pens, power banks, desk items and awards.
- Short runs and samples: there are no screens or plates to make, so small quantities make sense.
UV DTF, screen or digital?
Screen printing is great for big runs in one or two colours, on fabric and flat items. Digital printing is right for paper, vinyl and large graphics. UV DTF covers the gap: curved or fiddly hard surfaces where you want lots of colours, fine detail or a gradient. We often mix methods on one order, for example embroidered caps and UV DTF bottles in the same gift set.
Getting a good result
Send vector artwork or a high-resolution file, tell us what the item is and what it's made of, and sign off a sample before we do the full run. Clean, smooth surfaces grip the transfer best.
Got something you'd like branded? Send a photo and the quantity, and we'll tell you which printing method suits it.
